Walmart has come up with a smart new way to make self-checkout easier for customers while also cracking down on shoplifters. They’ve introduced invisible barcodes on some of their products that allow you to scan items without having to search for a visible barcode. This technology works on Walmart’s Great Value brand items like graham crackers, chocolate bars, and croissant sandwiches.
Here’s how it works: Normally, when you go to self-checkout, you have to find the barcode on an item, angle it just right, and scan it. But with this new system, you can simply move the item over the scanner, and it will automatically pick it up – no barcode hunt required! The barcodes are invisible to the eye but are printed all over the item, so the scanner can easily detect them from any angle.
