Als Auftakt zu "Antarktika. Eine Ausstellung über Entfremdung" in der Kunsthalle Wien, veranstalteten Tanzquartier Wien und Kunsthalle Wien von 4. – 6. Oktober 2018 ein Symposium zum modernen Entfremdungsbegriff. Von den entfremdungskritischen Kontinuitäten in der Geschichte moderner und zeitgenössischer Kunst bis zur (scheinbaren) Abwesenheit von Entfremdung in der „neuen Arbeitswelt“ wollen wir den Entfremdungsbefund erneut auf seine Evidenz und Produktivität prüfen.
In her talk "Who is the Subject of Alienation?" Nina Power attempts to defend the usefulness of a concept of alienation, outlining theories if post-, trans- and anti- humanism, while simultaneously acknowledging the distance between us and Feuerbach and Marx’s nineteenth century use of the term.
