During times of crisis and uncertainty, it can be difficult and overwhelming to sort fact from fiction. In response, physicians at UC San Diego Health have launched the COVID-19 Virtual Grand Rounds Series, a six-part live video symposium that will focus on topics related to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.

Part Four – Controlling SARS-CoV-2 — Lessons from Hong Kong (Aug. 12, 2020): Dr. KY Yuen, Chair of Infectious Diseases at the University of Hong Kong, compares the 2020 Novel Coronavirus to the 2003 SARS outbreak in this 4th video of our Virtual Grand Rounds series. Yuen references the research he led in 2003 that sought to identify and control the source of SARS-CoV to stop recurrence, and improve epidemic preparedness. He also explains the similarities and differences between the viral manifestation of both 2003 SARS-CoV and 2020 SARS-CoV-2, demonstrates the importance of universal masking, and provides insight on future planning as countries around the world continue to address the pandemic.
