Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer urged Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to hold a “fair trial” of President Donald Trump if the House of Representatives votes to impeach him as expected. Schumer said he sent a letter to McConnell on Sunday outlining rules on witnesses and documents that he said would ensure senators can make a “fully informed decision” on whether to convict or acquit Trump of the charges included in the articles of impeachment. McConnell has said he plans to take his cues from the White House on how to conduct the trial.
