Trump's first impeachment - 2020
In a round of follow-up questions, Democratic counsel Daniel Goldman asked Kurt Volker, the former U.S. special envoy to Ukraine, about his view of U.S. efforts to get Ukraine to start investigations into 2016 election interference and the Ukrainian energy company Burisma. “What I understood was Ukraine looking into and fighting corruption internally,” Volker said on Nov. 19, in a public hearing as part of the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. Volker testified alongside Tim Morrison, a former White House official who served on the National Security Council. The impeachment inquiry has focused on a July 25 phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter. Hunter Biden served on the board of Burisma. Volker has testified that he did not make a connection in his mind between Burisma and the Bidens.
