U.S. senators voted primarily along party lines against a motion asking for witnesses and documents in the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump.
It comes after days of questioning whether at least four Republican senators could join Democrats to give a simple majority in favour of the motion.
In the end, the motion was rejected 51-49, with senators Susan Collins and Mitt Romney breaking with their party to vote with the Democrats.
