ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Why? For me, age is a challenge. Everyday as a neurodivergent artist I am thinking of death. Usually, my own!
Then I hear that Tina Turner has taken a final breath and like others that have gone before her, I am moved. My artist takes pause as her body of work is silenced and I fear that humanity will forget the bright star that is Tina Turner.
How? Tina Turner, Lest We Forget is a 100cmx100cm square commemoration in inks and aerosols married on 19mm stretched canvas. Tina is painted in a new contemporary radical street art style.
I have used UV archival gloss finish to pull from the canvas the subtleties of colour buried for the viewer and held within the intentional space of the art piece.
What? This artwork is as much of a reminder to myself as to the new owners of a life worth lived—not a life already forgotten. Unlike my usual political anti authoritarian artwork; Tina should be remembered as “Simply the Best”.
BY THE ARTIST
I am an artist with things to say. Don’t limit me to colour theories, standardised techniques or even how to write an artist’s statement. Don’t get me wrong, I learnt the how and the what, the why and when in the late eighties and into the following decade from industry leaders nationally and internationally—I knew my shit!
I also have a bachelor of design and arts, in fine arts—a vehicle I chose to stay alive after some terrible happenings to my children became known.
As for learning, everyday!
Perhaps know I am an artist with disabilities. Like Van Gogh, Robin Williams and Seinfeld I am neurodivergent, with Quiet BPD. I Am an artist of many things, all of them covered in layers of paint and texture.

HOW YOU CAN KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE
I am an artist’s artist believing that art should have a voice. I don’t make art to decorate. I make art that reverberates globally, shouting to the world, “…just do it better.”
