Full title reads: "China. The pity of it all! Chinese Army retire from Shanghai fighting zone after desperate resistance to Japanese attacks - then armistice - who ever wins at War?"

Near Shanghai, China.

Chinese troops walk along road. Many are carrying belongings and look as if they are retreating. One of the soldiers is carrying what may be some kind of mortar. Several shots of the retreating troops.

View of Shanghai - voice over suggests that it is being shelled.

A wounded man on a stretcher is loaded into a waiting vehicle. Several of the first aiders are wearing an odd reversed Swastika symbol on their hats and coats. (Perhaps it is a Chinese version of the Red Cross?)

Aerial view of sea front buildings in Shanghai.

Refugees carry away belongings. Some are loaded up on carts. These people are leaving their homes ahead of the Japanese advance.

Refugees on small boats float down River. The boats are fairly crowded.

Views of damaged streets and buildings. A dead body lies tangled in barbed wire. View down deserted street. Pieces of furniture lie discarded in the road. (Scenes from the Sino-Japanese War)
