A lot of people due to a lack of knowledge in the medical field feel that surgery for cancer and non-cancer surgery is one and the same, which is not correct. Cancer surgeries are a lot different from any other normal routine surgeries.

The non-cancerous surgeries mostly stay local and spread to other organs in very rare cases. Whereas, cancerous cells multiply each minute & the active multiplication of cancerous cells keeps on increasing.

To diagnose a cancerous surgery requires performing a number of tests that are generally not required in a non-cancerous surgery. In non-cancerous surgery, we focus only on the affected area. On the other hand, cancer surgery requires removing the nearby area of the affected area which makes it an extensive surgery.

How is cancer surgery different from routine surgery?
1. Cancer surgery is complex
2. It takes a considerable amount of time
3. Longer recovery period
