Live Liver Donation At Stanford Sisters Undergo Unique And Rare Transplant

Fighting liver failure had become an all-encompassing task for Judith Lattin, after an autoimmune disease had scarred her liver beyond recovery. At Stanford, Lattin was given the option to undergo a unique and rare procedure; a piece of her sister's liver would be used as a transplant. Instead of having to wait for a deceased donor liver, Lattin's sister, Christine Webb, was a great match for a live liver transplant. The procedure is only done a handful of times each year, by only the most senior surgeons.
