Residents clear rubble from damaged homes and businesses after a night of shelling in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
MORE: Shelling struck the north of Kharkiv city in the early hours of June 7, Ukrainian authorities reported, leaving damage and destruction in its wake.
Local authorities said a house was destroyed, a high-rise residential building and a pizza shop damaged. A person trapped under rubble was rescued by emergency service.
Local residents could be seen clearing the debris and shattered glass strewn on the ground after the strikes.
Since Russia pushed back from Kharkiv, the second biggest city in Ukraine, last month, Luhansk and neighboring Donetsk regions, together known as the Donbas, have become Russia's main focus.
Russia has been pressing from three main directions - east, north and south - to try to encircle the Ukrainians in the Donbas. Russia has made progress, but only slowly, failing to deal a decisive blow or to encircle the Ukrainians.
