N.C. Gov. Bev Perdue today signed the Justice Reinvestment Act (House Bill 642) to strengthen current probation laws and increases penalties for habitual felons. The law also expands the scope of felony drug treatment programs offered by the state. Gov. Perdue said the law reinforces her commitment to creating safer communities and reducing crime.
