STORYLINE :
Hundreds of Indian Muslims gathered at Delhi's main mosque on Friday to protest against the execution of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein.
Carrying posters and flags, the demonstrators shouted anti-American slogans.
The protestors had planned to march to the US Embassy but were stopped by security personnel.
India has the world's second-largest Muslim population. A majority of its near-140 (m) million Muslim citizens belong to the Sunni denomination.
The Indian government had said in a statement that it was disappointed by the execution of the former Iraqi President.
Saddam was hanged on December 30 2006 after being convicted of committing "crimes against humanity."
The death sentence followed a year-long trial investigating the killing of 148 Shias from the town of Dujail in the 1980s
