FBI DIRECTOR SPEAKS ON NATIONAL SECURITY: FBI Director Christopher Wray, Assistant AG for National Security John Demers, and other Justice Dept. officials hold a press conference on a China-related national security matter. This comes just a week after Wray and DNI John Ratcliffe announced that Iran and Russia had obtained some voter registration information and were sending threatening and intimidating emails to voters. Though it’s been proven by U.S. intelligence agencies that Russia is actively trying to meddle in the election on his behalf, Pres. Trump continues to suggest that China poses the greatest threat to the country’s security. In the weeks leading up to Election Day, Trump has also tried to use his Justice Dept. to indict his own political rivals, including a failed Obama-era ‘unmasking’ investigation. What Trump views as a failure of his own Justice Dept. has led him to say he’s ‘not happy’ with AG William Barr, and Trump has already floated the idea of bringing Barr or Wray back if elected for a second term.
