Wu Wei is compared by Alan Watts to "sailing" rather than "rowing." Both are ways to find your way around in the water. However, using the oar to steer the boat in a particular direction requires a lot of work. In contrast, sailing requires much less physical effort because it lines up the sail with the direction of the wind.
