Contracts: Master the basics and beyond
We're going "Back to the Basics!" Join the Department of Administration’s Office of Equity in Procurement (OEP) and APEX Accelerator (APEX) for a program highlighting the state’s efforts and resources to assist small businesses, especially those at the beginning of their government contracting journey. We'll start with an overview of how to do business with the state. Then we'll get into the details: how to use the Small Business Certification Portal to apply for certification; what kind of marketing you should be doing to gain the interest of government buyers; we'll explain the bidding/request for proposal process and the parts of a contract; and we'll talk about how agencies can use procurement tools to work directly with certified small businesses without going through a competitive process. Throughout the morning you'll have a chance to network with resource partners and other small business owners.
