President Barbara Stinson and Special Envoy Cary Fowler, U.S. Department of State, used the opening session to frame the discussion for the rest of the dialogue by discussing challenges caused by global shocks and providing an outlook on how to improve food and climate security.
Special Envoy Fowler gave an opening keynote that will be followed by a Dialogue between the President and the Special Envoy.

The 2022 Borlaug Dialogue theme, “Feeding a Fragile World,” focused on overcoming pervasive shocks to the global food system. The triple threat of COVID, Conflict, and Climate demands addressing the multiple challenges the global food system faces now and in the future. The event addressed scalable solutions for adaptation and mitigation to limit planetary warming below 1.5° C and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
