The Australian War Memorial has been closed indefinitely with changes flagged to the upcoming ANZAC Day service.
The Council and corporate management of the Australian War Memorial decided to close the Memorial to the public from Tuesday March 24 until further notice.
The ANZAC Day service will now be a private ceremony held inside the Hall of Remembrance at the War Memorial and will be televised around the country.
War Memorial’s Assistant Director Brian Dawson told Sky News “it was a very difficult decision but, in some ways, easy” decision to make.
"We are currently planning to hold a relatively small ceremony, but I'm sure it will be very solemn and appropriate in the Hall of Memory with significant guests and speakers at the ceremony," he said.
