French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday attended a ceremony at the foot of the iconic Arc de Triomphe monument in Paris to commemorate the end of World War One.
Macron laid wreaths in front of the statue of French wartime Defence Minister Georges Clemenceau and at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier beneath the arch to mark the 102nd anniversary of the Armistice.
The war, which lasted from 1914-1918, ended with the signing of the Armistice that brought the fighting to a halt at exactly 11 a.m. on Nov. 11, 1918.
