Application Modernizationmigration With Aws

Modernizing your business applications is an inevitable aspect of doing business. With AWS, you get to decide on how to migrate your applications and at what pace, leveraging the industry’s most reliable infrastructure with the deepest set of services. When deploying AWS, enterprises can reduce payback periods to 6 months and reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) by 64%. With AWS your cloud migration and application modernization plans are based on your business needs and not agreements or licensing. For example, with AWS you can lift and shift applications, refactor them or fully re-platform them, making the choice that best suits your organization. Modernizing your applications with AWS you can reduce costs, gain efficiencies and make the most of your existing investments.

AWS will then describe the three main criteria that drive Cloud-Native application reconfiguration, e.g. where applications are built for the cloud from the ground up and specifically optimized for cloud scale/performance:

Amount of technical debt within a given application: More debt makes the migration a catalyst for much-needed overhaul.
.
Application suitability for running in the cloud: Legacy-architected applications benefit the most from a rewrite.
.
Proximity of an application to core value creation activities: This goes hand-in-hand with more development activity; A greater need for agility and amplified gains from even marginal improvements.

They will then focus on Containers, which provide a standard way to package your application's code, configurations, and dependencies into a single object. Containers share an operating system installed on the server and run as resource-isolated processes, ensuring quick, reliable, and consistent deployments, regardless of environment. The AWS Cloud offers infrastructure resources optimized for running containers, as well as a set of orchestration services, such as Kubernetes, ECS and Fargate, that make it easy for you to build and run containerized applications in production.

This session concludes with Microservices: an architectural and organizational approach to software development, where software is composed of small independent services that communicate over well-defined API’s. These services are owned by small, self-contained teams. Microservices (versus Monolithic) architectures make applications easier to scale and faster to develop, enabling innovation and accelerating time-to-market for new features.
