Accelerating Population Research And Its Impact On Reducing Alzheimer’s Disease Burden

In this Research Seminar hosted by the University of Michigan Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation, Julie Bynum, M.D., M.P.H., addresses how population research can be used to alter the trajectory of dementia's impact on individuals and society.

Bynum, a professor in the U-M Medical School's Department of Internal Medicine, within its Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine, co-leads the Center to Accelerate Population Research in Alzheimer's: capra.med.umich.edu/

In her lecture, she discusses the multitude of levers from a public and population health lens for intervening to reduce the population impact of dementia, and the importance of understanding the current scientific disease constructs for cognitive impairment and dementia for clarity across disciplines and stakeholders. The talk closes with information about CAPRA and other NIH grant-supported initiatives to advance population and healthcare delivery research in Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia.

The IHPI Research Seminar Series is a lecture-based program designed to share innovative health services research topics, studies, and programs, with clinicians, faculty, research staff, and students from a variety of disciplines.
