3d Printing Technologies Binder Jetting

As one of the seven families of additive manufacturing technologies, binder jetting is a 3D printing process that uses a liquid binding agent deposited onto powdered material to create a part’s geometry. It is mostly applied with metals, but can also be used to create objects from ceramic, sand and other materials available in a powder format. In the case of metals and ceramics, binder jet parts are considered “green” until they are debound and sintered to consolidate the material. But because the jetting step takes place at room temperature and sintering happens all at once, these parts can avoid many of the heat-related challenges faced in powder bed fusion.
