Today, I will be testing 5 distributions intended for old machines collecting dust. 3 exhibits, one nasty surprise and some disappointment down the road.
UPDATE: puppy linux Quirky release is the one that needs 2GB of RAM, and is most likely an experimental build. Slacko-puppy will do the old PCs just fine. Still not for the old MMX machine.
Here's the info about distros that got me interested:
Burn to CD:
linuxconsole.org
bodhilinux.com
puppylinux.com
planetwatt.com
damnsmalllinux.org *
* This distribution is dormant, therefore, no updates and constant development is available.
Burn to DVD:
antix.mepis.org
handylinux.org *
* Pentium 4 or higher recommended. May probably work on older platforms.
